Eyes Horizontal, Nose Vertical
眼横鼻直
“Gannōbichoku” is a Zen teaching that ``eyes are on the sides and nose is straight.''
It may seem all too obvious, but Zen teaches us the importance of seeing the "normal" as it really is.
Instead of complicating things with assumptions and preconceptions, accept the reality as it is.
This is the teaching that there is true awareness.
